Over the school holidays Issy planted a dormant Kahikatea plant.
This week the children have been learning about 3D shapes as part of Geometry. The children have been busy problem solving putting their shape net together and creating a shape out of marshmallows and toothpicks too. This linked in well to our instructional writing about writing steps to making a 3D shape. Today the Room 20 writers had to write up their own instructions for making a warm milo. Mrs Allen thought we all did a fabulous job. The best part was of course drinking the delicious milo at the end of the session.
The children had to read through a set of instructions to make pikelets. Next week, they will be writing instructions on how to make pikelets using verbs at the beginning of each step. Today we made the most delicious pikelets. We worked in small groups and we all helped out. The best part was of course eating our pikelets, although Mrs Allen and Kylie thought the class were amazing at the big clean up. We certainly covered many of our school values today and we are looking forward to learning plenty more about writing instructions. Room 20 were super enthusiastic and eager to learn about Hot Wheels on Wednesday afternoon. We learnt mainly about wheels and axles, as well as gears. We built and then kept modifying a standard lego car base. Here are some photos from our afternoon. |
