Last night a large number of St Albans children attended the Cultural Festival. A huge congratulations to Dyllan, Lucy, Mannat, Jessica, Amy and Mila who created amazing costumes for the Wearable Arts section of the festival. We are all incredibly proud of the amazing costumes and the chidlren were so confident on the stage. The Kapa Haka performed and they were amazing too. Well done St Albans children!
Yesterday the whole school got into the spirit of the Olympic games and created the Olympic Rings. The children wore their house colours and the staff all wore black. We were lucky enough to have a parent use a drone to take this picture.
They then shared their ideas with another group. The following day we revised what personification was and the children had to match a colour with a word or phrase. The children's matching. The children then thought of their favourite colour and gave a reason using the word because. If they could, they personified that colour too. We then discussed two models before we wrote our own.
Hopefully by now you have all chosen your poem for the Poetry Competition in Week 5. Please remember to practise, practise, practise at home and at school. All poems need to be recited by memory. We will have a special judge marking each class competition. They will follow the following rubric for marking.
Today it was Room 20's turn to host assembly. Rhys and Mannat did a fantastic job at organising assembly and being the MC's for the day. We loved listening to the Limericks that children read out. They have been writing these in Mrs Allen's class this week. Come and have a read of our fabulous writing sometime.
This week we have been using devices to help solve some math problems. We have really enjoyed using the QR codes and scanner to either check our problems or answer some questions.
